Before you hand a mobile device over to your tween/teen, it’s important to set up some rules and guidelines to understand this new responsibility. Having your child sign a cell phone contract does not mean you are a helicopter parent or that you don’t trust them.
What it does mean is that you’re being a smart, involved, and tech-savvy parent who understands the real risks that come with handing your tween/teen a device that has enormous power,
Signing a contract can also reduce the power struggles that often come along with Smart devices. Once you have the contract, you don’t have to nag. You simply refer to the agreed-upon rules as outlined in the document you both signed.
